MechanixTrix – How to Change 99 Nissan Pathfinder Water Pump Replacement
MechanisTrix offers the public an extensive collection of automotive “How To’s”. Their latest addition shows car-fanatics how to change the water pump for a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder. Including the tools that you will need – anybody can follow these easy to understand steps – whether you are a mechanic or not!
1. Place a drain pan underneath the radiator. Be sure the engine is cool before you drain the cooling system from the radiator into the pan.
2. Remove the undercover and the suspension member stay.
3. Un-install the radiator shrouds, the cooling fan and the drive belts.
4. Take the water drain plug out of the engine, *Note* this is on the side of the cylinder block where the water pump is located.
5. Pull off the chain tensioner cover as well as the water pump cover.
6. Push the timing chain tensioner sleeve up and put a stopper pin in it to keep it from slipping. Take out the chain tensioner assembly.
