South Florida Shavings creates its pine shavings from all natural Florida Pine logs. Once they obtain the logs, they have a detailed process that transforms the logs into into a shaving notably for equestrian uses:

First, they shave down the pine logs.After that process is complete, they send the shavings into a kiln and dry them at a tempurature of 600 to 800 degrees depending on conditions. The shavings are then sent to a giant hopper, through a computerized bagging machine, and finally compressed into a 2.8 cubic foot plastic bags. Quality control personnel are constantly monitoring this process to assure a perfect product and your satisfaction.
